Most Profitable Franchises to Consider in 2026

If you are researching franchises, one of the biggest questions is simple: which ones are actually profitable? Here are several franchise industries that consistently show strong revenue potential.

The most profitable franchises usually are not the trendiest. They are the businesses solving real problems every day.

Many people assume buying a franchise is a safe investment...

The reality is more complicated.

A lot of franchise systems look attractive at first glance. The brand is recognizable, the marketing looks polished, and the franchisor talks about growth and opportunity. But once you start digging deeper, many franchise businesses struggle with thin margins, high overhead, or inconsistent performance across locations.

That said, every year there are certain franchise industries that consistently outperform the rest.

These are the models where franchise owners are building real businesses with strong revenue potential, scalable operations, and demand that is not going away anytime soon.

Below are several franchise categories we believe have strong profit potential heading into 2026, along with why these models work.

Trade Service Franchises

One of the most consistently profitable areas of franchising is home service trades.

Plumbing, HVAC, and electrical franchises are not flashy businesses, but they solve real problems that homeowners deal with every day. Pipes break. Air conditioners fail. Electrical systems need upgrades.

Demand for these services is constant.

Another interesting aspect of trade service franchises is that many franchisors actually prefer owners without technical backgrounds. Their ideal franchisee is someone who can build and manage a team.

Successful owners focus on things like:

• Hiring skilled technicians
• Building strong operational systems
• Managing marketing and customer acquisition
• Tracking performance metrics and profitability

When these businesses scale, they can generate substantial revenue while the owner focuses on running the company rather than doing the work themselves.

Trade services also benefit from several advantages:

• Recession-resistant demand
• Emergency service revenue
• Repeat customers and long-term relationships
• Strong opportunities for territory expansion

For many franchise buyers, home services are one of the most reliable paths to building a large local business.

Business Brokerage Franchises

These franchises help business owners sell their companies and assist buyers who are looking to acquire an existing business. The process is somewhat similar to commercial real estate.

A business broker typically:

• Identifies owners who may want to sell
• Reviews financial history and prepares a valuation
• Lists the business for sale
• Markets the opportunity to potential buyers
• Screens and qualifies interested buyers
• Guides the transaction through negotiations and closing

Deals can take months to complete, sometimes even longer. Because of that, patience is essential in this industry. However, commissions on successful transactions can be significant. A single deal can generate substantial income, which is why many brokers focus on quality transactions rather than high volume.

This type of franchise tends to work best for people who have:

• Strong sales ability
• Comfort discussing financial information
• Long-term relationship building skills
• Patience for longer deal cycles

For the right personality type, business brokerage can be an extremely attractive franchise model with relatively low startup costs.

Tire Retail Franchises

Automotive services remain a core part of the economy, and tire retailers continue to see strong demand. One reason this category is interesting going forward is the rise of electric vehicles.

Research suggests that electric vehicles often wear through tires faster than traditional vehicles due to their weight and torque. That trend could create increased demand for tire replacement in the coming years. Unlike some automotive services that may change with new technology, every vehicle still needs tires.

Many tire franchises have been operating for decades, which provides several advantages:

• Established supply chains
• Brand recognition in local markets
• Operational systems refined over many years

While these businesses typically require a larger investment than service-based franchises, the revenue potential can be substantial when a location is well managed.

Longstanding automotive brands also tend to benefit from repeat customers and steady traffic.

Senior Care Franchises

Few trends in the United States are as powerful as the aging population.

By 2035, the number of Americans over the age of 65 is expected to exceed the number of children for the first time in history. That demographic shift is creating enormous demand for services that help seniors remain independent at home.

PlumbingHVAC

This is where in-home senior care franchises come in. These businesses provide non-medical services such as:

• Assistance with daily living activities
• Companionship and supervision
• Transportation and errands
• Light household help

From a business standpoint, senior care offers several advantages.

Many services are recurring, meaning clients may need assistance for months or even years. That creates ongoing revenue rather than one-time transactions. However, success in this industry depends heavily on leadership and culture.

The strongest operators focus on:

• Hiring and retaining quality caregivers
• Building relationships with hospitals and referral partners
• Creating systems that reduce staff turnover

Managed IT Services Franchises

Small and mid-sized companies rely on technology for daily operations, but most cannot justify hiring a full in-house IT department. Instead, they outsource those services to managed IT service providers.

Managed IT franchises typically offer services like:

• Network monitoring and support
• Cybersecurity protection
• Cloud infrastructure management
• Software support and integration

What makes this model attractive is the recurring revenue structure.

Many clients pay monthly service fees, creating predictable income and long-term relationships. As trust grows, service providers often expand their offerings with existing clients.

For people interested in technology or B2B services, managed IT franchises can be an underrated opportunity.

Managed IT Services

Exterior Remodeling Franchises

These companies focus on projects such as: Roofing, Siding, Gutters, Deck Construction and Exterior Renovations.

One of the biggest advantages in this category is scalability.

Many of the strongest franchises operate using a subcontractor model, meaning the owner does not need to employ large construction crews directly. Instead, they focus on marketing, sales, and project coordination.

This structure allows franchise owners to grow revenue without investing heavily in equipment or labor upfront.

Exterior remodeling projects are also high-ticket services, which can generate strong cash flow when projects are managed effectively.

Need Help Evaluating a Franchise?

There are thousands of franchise brands in the United States, but not all franchise models are created equal.

The categories listed above tend to stand out because they share several important characteristics:

• Strong demand for the underlying service
• Scalable business models
• Opportunities for recurring revenue
• Systems that support long-term growth

Over the past 15 years, I’ve been in sales for a Fortune 200 company, started a couple businesses from scratch, and worked in franchise development for two home improvement franchises. From my very different career experiences, I’ve found that franchising is the best fit for me (and many other people). Starting a business from scratch is risky, and it’s hard! In franchising, you’re not only buying into a proven business model and track record, but you have a whole network of people to work with that are doing the exact same thing you’re doing … not to mention all the support and systems you have from day one.

I am passionate about helping find YOUR best path to business ownership. Whether it’s a franchise model or starting a brand new business, I love navigating the different options with people to discover what is right for your career and lifestyle.

As a certified franchise broker, I have access to over 3,000 franchise concepts in 30 different industries. Through a comprehensive process, I learn about who YOU are as a business person and leader, what you want your day-to-day to look like, and help you match to good franchise opportunities.

In my free time I enjoy traveling (been to 30+ countries), food, wine, and pickleball. My wife Amanda and I have two children, a 2 year old daughter and a 1 year old son!

I spent the first 8 years of my career working in the marketing and advertising industry. After playing the games and dealing with corporate politics, I couldn’t handle it anymore and decided to quit and start my own business in 2017. I longed for flexibility and financial freedom that I couldn’t find in Corporate America. One of my businesses was an epic failure while the other was a success and I almost turned it into a franchise system. That led me to learn more about the franchise world where I then became a franchise broker.

My passion is people. I love learning about you – what your values are, what you envision your ideal day-to-day to look like, if you desire to work 9-5 hours, if you want to be a part of something from the ground up, what your financial goals are, and so much more. I absolutely love being a franchise broker and helping people to find a great fit for their situation.

I live in Omaha, NE with my husband and 3 kids. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family and going to my kids sporting events. I am on the Board of Directors at the private high school that I attended.

My journey to becoming a franchise broker has been an interesting one, shaped by my military experience, education, and diverse sales background. After serving in the Army for six years, I decided to pursue a career in business. I enrolled at Montana State University and majored in marketing. During my time in college, I gained valuable skills in market research, strategic planning, and customer relations. I started my sales career with Verizon, where I spent the better part of a decade helping customers find the right products and services to meet their needs. I then transitioned to the mortgage industry, where I helped countless clients navigate the complex process of securing a mortgage and purchasing a home

As my sales career progressed, I became increasingly interested in business ownership and franchising. I saw the tremendous value that franchises offer to entrepreneurs, providing them with a proven business model, training, and ongoing support. I decided to become a franchise broker to help aspiring business owners find the right franchise opportunity to fit their goals, skillset, and budget. Today, I’m proud to help people achieve their dreams of business ownership. I live in the Tampa, FL area with my wife and daughter. When I’m not working, I enjoy watersports, sporting events and spending time with my family.

Mike White

I was born and raised in Texas and went to the University of Texas at Austin. I majored in Business and Accounting and obtained my CPA license in Texas. I worked in the Corporate world in Accounting and Finance for 6 years and eventually grew restless. I struggled to find purpose in my work and then began the next 15 years in professional ministry. I primarily spent my ministry career working with students and enjoyed helping them find purpose and truth in the Christian faith. We moved to Omaha in 2013 and I continued my ministry career at a large church in town. I grew from my roles in student ministry to a chief of staff role.

I was eventually ready for something new and I transitioned into an executive role with a franchisor. I began to learn about the nuances of running a business with close proximity to our 3 corporate locations as well as the macro picture of a franchise system. I came to realize how important it is to place the right owner/operator in the right franchise system. Not all franchise systems are created equal! I found that when there is a disconnect between the culture of the franchisee and franchisor or the franchisee chooses a less than ideal business model, the results can be catastrophic. I saw that firsthand and strive to help potential owners make wise decisions when entering a franchise system. I’m excited to help people find and start the right business under a healthy franchise system.

My wife and I have 2 kids---a senior and freshman in high school and we still live in the Omaha area. We enjoy traveling, good food, good drinks and cheering on our Longhorns!
